Leading Through The Generations

Four Generations At Work

We are experiencing a unique workforce with 4 distinct generations working side-by side.  With these 4 generations we have unique challenges, but we also have unique opportunities.

During this interactive workshop, delivered to HR professionals across Ohio, there were several key discussed by participants.

  • A “Silver Sunnami” is coming.  50 million Silent’s and 80 million baby boomers are preparing to retire.  There are concerns in the market place of a future talent shortage.
  • Gen X workers are moving into high level roles of organizations – how will you prepare for the Millennials to take on greater responsibility?
  • Leaders need to get to know the values and the goals of their Millennial workforce and determine ways to transfer the knowledge of the Silents and Baby Boomers to this youthful workforce.
  • A few myths debunked:Lazy – Monster Trak Survey of 2004 Grads top goals, “Work faster and better than peers”, they want meaningful workInstant Gratification – they work fast and like frequent feedbackDisloyal – if they have meaningful work – they are loyal, but if not, they will move on for what they are looking forSelfish – Millennials actually do more volunteerism than any other generation – they look for their employers to support philanthropic work
